Building of Trust

Uses of the Donated building in Warrick County, IN. for the Warrick County Chapter

  1. This will allow an increase in the number of Health and Safety Classes that can be offered simultaneously.  This should allow us to increase our income from the increased number of fees for the increased numbers of classes.
  2. This will increase the numbers of trained responders in our county.
  3. There will be more meeting/conference rooms.  This will help improve our internal communications among staff and volunteers.
  4. There will be better wheelchair access.  Not all of our handicapped volunteers can access the bank building, despite the elevator.
  5. There will be better general access to the building and the bathrooms, because all the rooms are on one floor, supplies will not have to be moved through locked stairwells, and the bathrooms do not have key-only access.
  6. This building will allow more space for increased numbers of volunteers to come into the Chapter to work on new projects that will benefit the community.  There will be more computer stations available than what we have now, to supply the need for updated on-line training.  We have more computers than internet outlets at our present facility.
  7. This building will provide quicker response times to disasters.  There is on-site parking for all the Chapter and personal vehicles.
  8. This will also provide for better security and supervision of the vehicles.  This will also allow easier access to maintenance the Chapter vehicles.
  9. There will be increased storage for disaster supplies.
  10. There will be increased storage for in-kind donations.
  11. Part of the building could become a potential disaster shelter.
  12. We will have a store for staff, volunteers, and community members to purchase Red Cross products. We are hoping to get more disaster preparation kits out into the community and increase community awareness.
  13. Part of the donated building was the first Black School in Warrick County.  This has historical significance.  We intend to rehabilitate the old school and rid it of the lead paint, mold, and asbestos tiles throughout. We have plans to establish an  American Red Cross Museum in this area.
  14. Because of the increased space available in the office areas it will be easier to secure confidential information.

There are many ways to support the Red Cross. No donation is too small – every dollar puts us one step closer to achieving our mission.
